Izak Smit is the acclaimed co-author of the book ‘South African Wines – Terroir & Travel, which won the Gourmand Award for the best book in the world in its category twice; the original publication as well as with the update. A Maters graduate, Izak has spent the last 25 years as an advisor to the wine sector and completed academic studies in wine whilst making wine on the sideline. He is currently driving the South African Wine Index, a multi-vintage wine adjudication system application to identify South Africa’s best wines. The 10-year research result has emanated in ‘The Grand Wines Collection’ which forms the basis of ‘The Fine Wine Guide’.
