Arts education is widely recognised as an essential part of quality education. It not only fosters learners' social, personal and intellectual development but also enhances their critical and creative thinking skills. This education provides opportunities for learners to collaborate, helping them to develop respect for diverse opinions and backgrounds. Additionally, it serves as a healthy outlet for expressing emotions and ideas that learners might not otherwise convey. Creative Arts Education provides guidelines for teaching Dance, Drama, Visual Arts and Music in an engaging, dynamic and practical manner, enabling each child to reach their full potential.

Creative Arts Education is suitable for the Intermediate and Senior Phase curriculum, including examples and activities that help teachers translate theory into practice. The first chapter provides an introduction to Creative Arts teaching, while the last chapter covers inclusive Creative Arts education. Each art form is covered in detail, and a full chapter is dedicated to inclusive education, addressing learning barriers and strategies to accommodate various learning styles and needs in a diverse classroom. Structural guidance in accordance with CAPS (Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) requirements is also provided. The new edition emphasises African art forms, tackles challenges in implementing the CAPS curriculum and offers more practical application of modern pedagogies.
