Richard Nevis is changing his life. Having resigned from his job as a promising young lawyer at an unscrupulous legal firm, he is pursuing his dream of restoring antique boats. In his spare time, he volunteers at a shelter for mistreated tokoloshes: knee-high, much-maligned, intelligent creatures steeped in legend.
Through a crooked former colleague, Richard discovers that a fierce hunt is on for an ancient pebble that grants invisibility, but the pebble is locked in a box that can only be opened by a willing tokoloshe.
Blackmailed into helping retrieve the pebble, he asks tokoloshe Lun for help. When Lun steals the pebble, Richard follows him to the Owl House in Nieu Bethesda - Lun's birthplace. But a book-loving assassin, Doorway, is also after the pebble, and soon he is on Richard's trail.
Entertaining, inventive and very funny, Tokoloshe Song is a uniquely South African fantasy thriller.
