Red Rangers

Red Rangers is a handbook on how to win the war against ruthless syndicates, and greedy, heartless people who use spears, guns, snares, traps, mines, saws and poison. It is a how to stop the problem, not how to make difference.

The Illicit Wildlife Trade conduit can be severed at the first link by making it intolerable to harvest illegally in the savannahs, jungles and oceans and avoid prosecution. After working with green rangers (bush) and marine blue rangers (sea), the author coined the term “red rangers”, to aggressively break from conventional ranger work. The time is over when we protected nature for mankind; the time has come to protect nature against mankind. Extinction occurs in a heartbeat.

Retired Colonel Gerhardus Petrus Otto, alias ‘Otch’. After decades of cooperating with rangers in terrestrial areas—he calls them Green Rangers—he recently spent a decade adding his Special Forces Seaborne experience in Littoral Marine counterpoaching and he dubbed the outcome Blue Rangers. With dramatically rising ranger casualty figures over the past six years across Africa, Otch realised that the time has come to create a manual for counterpoaching in the volatile and extreme risk areas subjected to hybrid terrorism and insurgency.
